Throughout the summer holidays, teddy bears and their owners have been coming along to Stackpole Walled Gardens to sing, dance and make merry at the Musical Bumps, teddy bears singing picnics.
Not only have the children -varying in age from 0-12 - have lots of fun singing ‘teddy bear themed’ songs and trying to make their furry friends fly on the trampoline-parachute amongst a host of fun musical activities, but they have been raising money for Pembrokeshire Mencap Ltd.
Manager of Pembrokeshire Mencap, Debbie, has been delighted with Musical Bumps presence throughout the summer stating: “The singing picnics have been a great success not only for Musical Bumps, but for the walled gardens with many of the young families visiting the gardens for first time.”
A raffle was held in aid of Pembrokeshire Mencap in which prizes included plants donated by the charity and dinner for two at the Stackpole Inn,
When asked if the singing picnics would be a regular feature at the walled gardens during the summer holidays, both Sue (South West Wales Musical Bumps teacher) and Debbie (Pembrokeshire Mencap manager) agreed that it was a success for all involved and the outdoor musical sessions on the lawn, even drew small crowds of holiday makers who weren’t expecting free entertainment!
Local mum, Sian said: “We enjoyed the singing picnics so much because they are full of energy, colour and music. It really gets the senses going. Our little ones loved using the parachute and the instruments and especially enjoy joining in with the dancing and actions. Even on a rainy day it makes my children very happy.”
