Pictured are members of Martletwy Young Farmers Club who performed their show at Ysgol Bro gwuan (Fishguard) on Thursday evening for one of the competitions in the YFC annual calendar.

The club’s piece, The Martletwy Harbour Talent Show, was written by Charles Harries and Emma Davies and features such cast elements as the Landshipping Brass Band; the Cresswell Quay Am Dram Society and the Martletwy Street Dance Group. Set on Martletwy Harbour, the local people put on their annual talent show. The curtains open to a sea shanty, fishermen busy at their work and local produce being sold. Local busybody and talent show organiser Mrs Mactivity is busy setting up for the show...

The performance was for one of three preliminary rounds that took place last week, starting on Wednesday, with three clubs per night.

Responding after the show, the youngsters received high praise on the club’s Facebook page:

“Wow! What a night... super proud of our club tonight. Not only did you all give your absolute best, you represented our club to the highest. We are proud of each and every one of you!”

The following morning, Secretary Lucy Hughes said: “Tonight we will find out how we have done and, if we have come in the top four, we will go through to the final, and that will be held next Friday.

“Martletwy YFC hs gone from a very small club of no more than 15 members to this year having a whopping intake of 46, aged 10-28! So as a club we are really getting stuck in now.”

She added: “We will be putting this entertainment on again in Greenhill School on February 28 alongside our neighbouring YFC South Pembs… will be a fun night!”
