Manorbier VC School took the spoils at the recent Welston Challenge science day as part of the Dragon LNG Darwin Experience. The day which comprises of four workshops; pond dipping, woodland exploration, microscopes, and bioluminescence, was enjoyed by Year 3 pupils from Sageston, St. Florence and Manorbier primary schools.

The event is hosted by Professor Tony Campbell and his wife Dr. Stephanie Matthews, Trustees of the Darwin Centre and Founders of the Young Darwinian science and engineering Journal for young people.

The setting was the beautiful Welston Court Science Centre, Milton.

The pupils get a chance to take part in exciting activities and talk to international scientists about their life and careers in the world of science and engineering.

Marten Lewis, Darwin Centre executive director, said: “This is a unique opportunity for these young children to get an insight into the world of science and engineering, it is a great privilege to work with the children and to see their eyes light up and aspirations raise as they learn new things about the world around them.

“I would like to thank Tony and Stephanie for the warm welcome, Dragon LNG for their continued support of the Darwin Experience, and most importantly the teachers and pupils from the schools, well done all.”
