If you’re keen to promote the positive values of sport and inspire more young people to become active, then the volunteer role of platinum young ambassador may appeal to you.

Sport Pembrokeshire - Pembrokeshire County Council’s sports development section - is looking to appoint a number of platinum young ambassadors across the county.

Matthew Freeman (Active Young People manager) says it’s the first time that Sport Pembrokeshire has recruited for the volunteer role.

“This is a fantastic chance for anyone over the age of 18 who is enthusiastic about boosting opportunities locally for sports participation among young people,” he said.

“It’s not essential to be an exceptional sportsperson. What we are looking for are people with enthusiasm and drive, and commitment to developing their skills.

He said one of the main aspects of the role will be to ensure that young people are involved in the decision-making processes to support their engagement in physical activity in Pembrokeshire.

“To achieve this, the platinum young ambassadors will be expected to build relationships with key colleagues from other organisations to drive forward the development of the Young Ambassador scheme across Pembrokeshire,” he said.

Additionally, the platinum young ambassadors will work on bespoke projects linked to the Sport Pembrokeshire service priorities.

Matthew added that the successful applicants will receive a comprehensive plan of continuous professional development from Sport Pembrokeshire, and a personalised development plan.

The volunteer role would initially be for one year.
