Two Pembrokeshire College Graphic Design students have secured their place in the UK Final of the WorldSkills UK Graphic Design Competition in November.

Pembrokeshire College’s second year Graphic Design students, Theo Knipe and Samantha Stables competed against 20 students in the live semi-final heats where only eight lucky contenders were selected for the final round.

Theo said: “We had the day to create three pieces of marketing material for a Suicide Awareness Campaign - the project was given to us in the morning, so we didn’t have time to prepare beforehand.” \

Samantha also enjoyed the day: “The live heats were great, there was a nice atmosphere and it was fun to work on a project in a day.”

The UK Final of the WorldSkills Graphic Design competition will see Theo and Samantha pushing their skills even further at the three-day event, which will include similar project work and an interview with the panel of judges held at the NEC in Birmingham.

Pembrokeshire College’s senior lecturer, Louise Sheppard, was delighted.

“I’m incredibly proud of them both for reaching the final,” shed said. “It’s a great experience for them and will look great on their applications for university next year.”
