Pembrokeshire College has had its commitment to the health and well-being of its employees recognised following a successful Corporate Health Standard Platinum Award re-validation.
Pembrokeshire College is one of just eight employers in Wales to have achieved the Corporate Health Standard Platinum Award. With this level of award reserved for exemplar employers demonstrating business excellence and taking full account of their corporate social responsibility, achieving this award firmly places Pembrokeshire College at the forefront of promoting sustainable health improvement.
An initiative aimed at assisting employers in improving the health of their workforce and their organisation, the Corporate Health Standard is the quality mark for workplace health promotion in Wales. Initially picking up the Platinum Award in 2013, Pembrokeshire College is now the only educational institution in Wales to hold the award at this level.
During last week’s re-validation, Emma George, Healthy Working Wales assessor, commented: “Pembrokeshire College have continued to perform to the highest levels in terms of work with the local community, with their staff, their students and for environmental issues. Their commitment is to be highly commended and they are truly a beacon of good practice.”
As part of the process, auditors looked at a variety of areas, including the college’s commitment to employment and skills, community engagement, procurement, transport, facilities management and capital build.
Director of learner and staff services at the college, Kathryn Robson, commented: “The Standard has helped us to promote good practice and has supported us in taking active steps to promote the health and well-being of both our staff and our learners. This award recognises our commitment and is an excellent achievement for the college which would not be possible without the hard work and commitment of an excellent team of staff.”
