SAUNDERSFOOT marketer Joe Hurlow, pictured holding his qualification certificate outside his former school, Ysgol Greenhill in Tenby, is a local talent with national impact, with hundreds of businesses trusting him with their design strategy.
As the digital world continues to evolve, a local media team that includes former pupils of Greenhill School is demonstrating that homegrown talent from West Wales can achieve the international reach of larger companies.
Olivia ‘Liby’ Stone runs Whitestone Media Group, with her husband Dayne Stone, who attended Ysgol Greenhill. She’s proud to say that its the only media company offering both drone videography and website design under one roof.
Altogether, three former Greenhill students work there, and they aver that their work ethic, their ability to overcome problems and come up with innovative solutions is a testament to the teachers and the education they all received. Spanning different age groups, all three help to make Whitestone the fastest growing media agency in West Wales.
The group recently published an article highlighting the accomplishments of one of their team members, Joseph ‘Joe’ Hurlow, from Saundersfoot. Joe left Greenhill with A and A* results and has since become what Liby describes as “the digital backbone for more than 1,000 businesses across the UK.”
“We’re especially proud of Joe,” Liby adds.
Joe joined Whitestone as an apprentice while completing his Marketing level 3 qualification at Gower College in Swansea. During this time has designed, websites, adverts, marketing materials and created promotional videos for small, medium and large businesses throughout the UK, including big names like Valero, Griffiths Engineering and West Wales Properties, to name a few.
Joe now plays a pivotal role in shaping the digital presence for hundreds of businesses. From website design to brand development and integrated marketing strategies, his work has helped local companies compete with national brands to make their mark online.
Reflecting on his journey, Joe described the stages in developing his career:
“I’ve always been fascinated by the way technology works and the real-world impact it can have. Leaving sixth form, I had no clear career path that I wanted to pursue. However, when I saw the apprenticeship listing appear online, I felt it made sense as the next step for me.

“Completing my digital marketing qualification gave me the tools to turn that passion into a career.”
With a client base now ranging from small Pembrokeshire start-ups to established UK and international companies, Whitestone’s portfolio of work demonstrates the importance of combining local creativity with international ambition. But still they feel that its the personalised service and attention to detail that sets them apart.
“It’s been an amazing experience working with local businesses to help them grow, while also working with national brands that I never expected to collaborate with,” added Joe.
Joe’s story is one that could inspire many young people in Pembrokeshire, showing that with dedication, creativity, and the right training, it is possible to turn classroom potential into a career that makes a lasting impact on businesses.
