Teachers and education professionals across Wales are being encouraged to take advantage of a programme of free professional learning events delivered by Careers Wales. The programme provides attendees with practical training, resources and ideas that can be applied across a range of subjects and year groups.

The courses help schools meet the expectations of the Curriculum for Wales by giving staff the knowledge, tools and practical ideas to embed Careers and Work-Related Experiences (CWRE) across subjects and year groups.

During the 2025-2026 academic year, more than 1,000 teachers and education professionals attended the professional learning events, resulting in positive feedback.

The programme is open to education professionals nationwide and includes a variety of online sessions delivered throughout the academic year.

Available in both Welsh and English, the training is delivered via Microsoft Teams, making it accessible and flexible for busy school staff.

This year includes several new courses covering employer engagement, labour market information and embedding CWRE in the curriculum.

The upcoming autumn term sessions include: CWRE Policy Development; National CWRE Network Meeting; Using Labour Market Information (LMI) in GCSE Business Studies; CWRE Audit Training ; Careers City; Governor Training; A Primary Teacher’s Guide for Employer Engagement; Maximising Employer Interactions in Secondary Settings; Incorporating CWRE in curriculum – bringing teachers, learners and parents on the journey.

Mark Owen, head of services to stakeholders at Careers Wales, said: "We want to make it as easy as possible for teachers and education professionals to access free, practical, and up-to-date professional careers learning.

"Whether it's embedding CWRE across the curriculum or exploring topics such as AI and emerging industries, our training is designed to provide practical support that can be used in the classroom.”

A full schedule, along with session descriptions and booking links, is available on the professional learning events page of the Careers Wales website.
