The joy and triumph of the resurrection was celebrated on Easter morning on a beautifully bright Sunday. The church looked magnificent, delightfully decorated with copious spring flowers on each window sill and stunning arrangements throughout the building. It was wonderful to see so many pews occupied and the church full of local people and visitors eager to rejoice in the Good News of Easter.

The service was led by the Rector, Rev. Canon Andrew Davies, assisted by curate, Rev. Alex Grace, who delivered a thought-provoking and enriching sermon. Her address concerned the way in which Mary had encountered Jesus after his resurrection and how her eyes had been opened afresh as she had experienced the reality of our risen Lord.

While the offertory took place, the stewards also collected the funds raised for Plant Dewi through the 'Fill your chocolate tubes with 20 pence pieces' scheme. It is hoped that the extra inches on various waistlines will result in a substantial donation to the charity!

Further weighty matters were planned for the evening when the final weigh-in for the ever-diminishing Soupermen would be taking place. It is clear to see that an enormous effort has been made by the catering gentlemen and that many are half the men they were before Lent.

It was with great pleasure that five members of the junior choir were presented with medals and ribbons as a result of singing examinations recently undertaken within the Royal School of Church Music. Trained by Mrs. Judy Davies, the young ladies, Elise Cox, Sally James, Charlie Reohorne, Jess Dattke and Rhiannon Andrasko were each awarded the medal and light blue ribbon and were congratulated on their success by the congregation.

During Holy Communion, the choir performed the glorious motet, Panis Angelicus and the junior choir also sang. Organ scholar and trumpeter, Corey Morris, accompanied the hymns and delighted all with his outstanding playing.

Children of the Sunday Funclub joined the congregation for the Eucharist and later charmed everyone with their rendition of a recently composed Easter song, Red Little Robin. Leader Nan expressed her thanks and pleasure that the writer, Ruthie Thomas, had allowed the children to perform her work in public, particularly as it tells of how the robin's breast was pierced by a thorn from Jesus' crown on that first Good Friday. The children then distributed mini Easter eggs to everyone present.
