The July meeting of council was held in the East Williamston Community Hall when council was pleased to welcome back Mr. Donald Beynon as a member. All play areas together with the Jubilee Park and nature Trail were now the responsibility of the community council and it was decided to carry out a general maintenance inspection of all areas with a view to a spring clean prior to the summer season. Council had also agreed to purchase, using some of the replacement reserves, an upgraded tractor mower in order to reduce future labour and fuel costs in the maintenance of the areas. Following the visit of the affordable housing enabler last month, council agreed to conduct a survey in the area to determine the need for affordable housing, providing the cost would not be prohibitive. Planning application received: extension at Wild Acres, Wooden. Planning applications granted by PCC: extension at Woodlands, Valley Road, Wooden; power cable - Devonshire Drive; development land at Coppins Lodge, Pentlepoir. Planning application refused by PCC: development on land at rear of Bush Lodge, Broadmoor. Three applications had been received from local residents wishing to serve with the community council in response to the advert to fill current vacancies. It was anticipated that co-option may follow an informal meeting to be arranged. Cars being illegally parked on common land at Kingsmoor and a light failure in Church Road, East Williamston, had been reported to the appropriate authorities.
