The May meeting of East Williamston Community Council was held in the Community Hall recently and was preceded by the annual general meeting. Prior to the meetings, one member of the community who was concerned about rumours regarding his intentions, attended, together with his family, to assure council that he would not be building on land at East Williamston recently purchased, but would be siting a static caravan to provide a permanent home for his family. He would also be submitting an application for retrospective planning permission for the project. It was disappointing that only four councillors stood for re-election this year and while some may be agreeable to co-option, there would still be vacancies, particularly in the Pentlepoir ward, if anyone was interested in serving the community. Inspection of play areas was generally satisfactory, except for the perimeter fencing at Broadmoor, for which the county council refused to accept responsibility. Furthermore, it appeared there were still some owners ignoring the requirement to clean up after their pets at East Williamston. It was emphasised that the park was a children's play area and should this persist, council, in the interest of children's health, would be forced to ban all dogs from entering the park and nature trail area. Meetings with Pembrokeshire County Council were being arranged regarding the bus pull-in, bus shelter and the preservation of the ceramic panel at Pentlepoir School. Planning applications for consultation were received as follows: two dwellings - rear Cold Inn Cottage; retain two static vans for staff - Sunnyvale Holiday Park Valley Road. Planning applications granted by Pembrokeshire County Council: extension - Bush Croft, Clayford Road; two dwellings - Plot 2, Leylands, Wooden, Pentlepoir; extension - Honeystone, East Williamston; one-and-a-half storey dwelling - Bali Hai, Valley Road; construction farm tracks - Prouts Park Farm; one dwelling - Killawen House, Kilgetty. Planning applications refused by Pembrokeshire County Council: one dwelling - Pentlepoir Cottage.
