Clr. Wilkinson welcomed members to the first meeting of the year, adding that it was his sad duty to record the death of Clr. Hugh Davies who had been a serving member of council for 30 years.

The chairman paid tribute to Clr. Davies, stating that his knowledge of the area gained during those years service could not be replaced. He had served as council representative on various bodies, including the school governors at Sageston and the Community and Hall Association. Clr. Davies had a reputation of being on hand for whatever meetings were necessary and for turning up to assist in any way he possibly could.

Following this tribute, those present stood for a minute's silence in honour of the departed member.

The scheme at Hill was on going and Clr. Codd reported that the first part of the scheme for pavements in Valley Road was well into the planning stage.

The dropped kerb at The Meadows had been completed, while the problems with drains, ditches etc., in Ford Lane, Templebar Road, Clayford Road and the length of road between Cold Inn and East Williamston had been reported to the county council.

Members were also concerned with the state of the carriageway on the approach to and under Saundersfoot railway bridge and it was resolved to write to Pembrokeshire County Council regarding this problem.

Footpath, Templebar Road - A478. The clerk had discussed this with the footpath officer who had indicated that problems had been found with the deviation order. It was resolved to request that the deviation orders on other footpaths within the community be investigated.

Correspondence received included a letter from Pembrokeshire County Council's recycling department indicating the possibility of a Can Bank being placed at Broadmoor and a reply from Silcox Motor Coach Co. indicating that their drivers had been instructed to return to the A477 at Broadmoor and not use Ford Lane.

Consideration was also given to the public entertainment licence renewals for both Fountain Head and the East Williamston Community Hall. Council had no objection to either of these renewals.

Pembrokeshire County Council had also notified th community council of the road closure in operation currently on the Devonshire Drive, in place to facilitate remedial works to the carriageway.

Planning decision notices received during the month included erection of Stable Block etc, land south of Clayford Road, Kilgetty - approved; extension to include bathing and leisure facilities, rear garden of Cranbrook Cottage, 3 Broadmoor - approved.
