The November meeting of East Williamston Community and Hall Association was held on Monday.

Members were very enthusiastic about the October quiz evening, which had seen an excellent attendance and varied rounds of most enjoyable questions devised by Lyn Wilkinson.

The next quiz evening will be tomorrow (Saturday), with questions set by Sian Beynon and Ian Wilkinson possibly acting as quizmaster.

As always, doors and bar open at 7.30 pm, questions begin at 8 and everyone is very welcome to come and join in. At only £2 per person, it provides a most enjoyable and friendly evening, enlivened by a raffle in the interval.

The process of registering Jubilee Park and Nature Trail with the National Playing Fields Association is continuing, and readers are reminded to visit the website http://www.qe2fields.com">www.qe2fields.com

This explains that, to mark Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee next year, the organisation called Fields In Trust is launching a campaign to protect outdoor recreational facilities in communities across the country. Called 'The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge', it invites people to vote for a particular open space in their area, worthy of protection for future generations to enjoy. Your vote for Jubilee Park and Nature Trail to be considered under the scheme would ensure its permanent protection but there are very few days left, so please cast your vote now by following the easy instructions on the website.

Quotes for initial works on the East Williamston allotment site have been received, as have two firm requests for allotments. Interest in renting spaces should be made known to the community and hall association secretary on 813778.

Future Community Hall events planned at the meeting include a Christmas party and a New Year's Eve get-together. The former will be held on Saturday, December 10, and will begin with the lighting of the tree outside the hall at 7 pm, followed by carols, mulled wine and mince pies and then a seasonal quiz. All are welcome.

There will be two trees in East Williamston, the second on the common where it can be enjoyed by everyone entering or leaving the village. The New Year's Eve friendly celebration will be from 8 'til late, with bring and share refreshments.

Initial discussions have already begun on how to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in June 2012. (It is to be noted that one item, hidden in the Golden Jubilee treasure hunt nine and a half years ago has still not been located! Maybe there are more exciting plans in store this time.)
