St. Florence WI held an early Platinum Jubilee event on Monday, May 30, providing a lovely cuppa and delicious cakes and biscuits in the Village Hall.

An invitation was sent out with everyone welcome to attend and there was a good attendance throughout the event of over 100 people of all ages. This was a free community event because of the overwhelming support of local businesses and the community who supplied cakes, raffle prizes and support on the day. Janet Bevans, a WI member and a Trustee of the Paul Sartori charity, had organised absolutely everything including decorations, refreshments and helpers to run the kitchen and the cake table. There was a raffle for a variety of prizes and a quiz with questions based on the Queen’s life.

Everyone enjoyed the freedom to mix with friends and meet people without restrictions while catching up with all that had been happening since 2020. The event raised a fantastic £630 with 100 per cent of the money raised handed over to support the work of local Charity Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Services. Thanks go to Janet and all her helpers for an enjoyable afternoon.
