Tenby's two lifeboats were launched during the early hours of one Friday morning recently to go to the aid of two people who were reported to be in difficulty in the sea off the resort's South Beach.
The town's coastguard team and local police also responded to the 999 call, which was made at approximately 3.45 am.
The female who made the call reported that her two male companions had entered the water and she had lost sight of them.
However, the men had made it safely ashore before the arrival of the rescue teams.
The pair, one of whom was aged 37 and from Stafford and the other, aged 25 from Stoke, were described as 'a little the worse for alcohol', but were nevertheless suitably apologetic for the inconvenience they had caused.
