As from today (Friday), Pembrokeshire County Council's refuse collection service within the Tenby town walls area will be starting two hours earlier than usual. Aim of the change - from 7 am to 5 am - is to reduce the effect of seagull attacks on refuse placed out on the street prior to collection and to remove as much rubbish from the streets as possible before birds become active. It is also hoped that the earlier collection will reduce the unwelcome noise generated by flocks of seagulls in the town centre early in the morning and the scattering of waste food around the streets. The arrangement is for a trial period to enable assessment of the benefits of an earlier collection. As usual, PCC's serviceline will be available from 8 am to deal with any requests.
