A TENBY couple have made a special presentation to the monks on Caldey Island on behalf of Earl Spencer.

During a recent visit to Althrop House, the family home and resting place of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Philip and Jeannette Harris, of The Leys, Narberth Road, Saundersfoot, were fortunate enough to meet and chat to Earl Spencer.

He asked the couple where they were from and on finding out they were from Pembrokeshire, reminisced about the time he spent working on Caldey in 1987.

"He could even remember the ice-cream," smiled Philip.

Earl Spencer asked Mr. and Mrs. Harris if they would be visiting the monastic isle and, if so, whether they could give the monks a signed copy of his book 'A Tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales'.

The couple were only too happy to oblige and paid a visit to Caldey last week when they presented the Abbot, Father Daniel, with the gift, which he was very pleased to receive.
