The Dyfed-Powys Police cricket team is to play in the final of this season's National Police Knockout Cup at Hampshire's Rosebowl County Ground on Wednesday, September 7. This is a fantastic achievement for a force which has the smallest number of officers in the UK.
En route to the final, they have overcome Suffolk, Essex, South Yorkshire and, in the semi-final at Ammanford on Thursday, August 11, the Metropolitan Police. Two years ago, the Met beat Dyfed-Powys in the last over, and so to beat them by seven wickets with 10 overs to spare was particularly satisfying.
Among those turning in some fine performances with bat and ball has been Simon Cole of the Cresselly club, who is stationed in Carmarthen This is the first time that Dyfed-Powys Police has reached this stage of the competition, and the squad is looking forward to playing against the winners of the Staffordshire v West Mids match being played next week.
