The Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys has announced he is advertising the post of Chief Constable for Dyfed-Powys Police.

Commissioner Christopher Salmon will be the first Police and Crime Commissioner to appoint a Chief Constable in Wales, since elections in November, last year.

Commissioner Salmon, said: "The Chief Constable post has been filled in a temporary capacity since last year. This is because recruitment at Chief Officer ranks was put on hold until after the Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

"We are now in a position to start the recruitment process. I have kept the current Temporary Chief Constable informed of these plans throughout.

"My role is to ensure the public has full confidence in the police and that means recruiting the best person for this critical role. I am encouraging applications from officers across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a fantastic police service and an important first step in building the team that will keep us all safe in the coming years."

The closing date for applications will be February 6 and interviews will be held on February 21 and 22.

It is anticipated the Commissioner will be in a position to announce the name of the successful candidate sometime in early March, this year.
