The Dyfed Family History Society is holding its free annual fair in St. Peter’s Hall, Carmarthen, on Saturday, September 17, from 10 am to 4 pm. It will be opened by their president, Right Rev. J. Wyn Evans, Bishop of St. David’s.

Primarily aimed at people whose ancestors lived in the counties of Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, anyone who wants to start tracing their family tree or who has reached a brick wall will find a wealth of advice and experience from enthusiasts, genealogists and professionals.

There will be three speakers, starting at 11 am with Emily Ward-Willis from The National Archives (TNA), Kew, who will be describing the Welsh records held at TNA. At 12.30 pm, Bill Cainan gives an insight into ‘Tracing the Welsh Soldier in WW1 and WW2’. Finally, at 2 pm, Dr. Diane Brook will be posing the question ‘How far back can you go?’.

There will be a variety of exhibitors offering help and advice on family history, with representatives from the National Library of Wales, TNA, local archive services, local history societies, a selection of family history societies from neighbouring areas as well as the various branches of Dyfed FHS.
