Tenby Animal Rescue Centre organiser, Mrs. Maureen Ward, is appealing for help this week in re-homing two dogs dumped in the area over the Easter weekend.

The two English Springer Spaniel bitches were found at Buttyland Caravan Park, Manorbier, on Saturday morning.

Believed to be mother and daughter, the dogs are aged approximately five and two years, respectively.

When discovered, both dogs were found to be very under-nourished, but are now, Mrs. Ward was pleased to report, 'picking up' and settling in at the Rescue Centre at the Glebe.

"They are very well behaved and very gentle dogs and I would like to re-home them together, but no doubt they would settle away from each other," explained Mrs. Ward.

"We took both the dogs to the vet on Saturday afternoon for them to be checked over and whilst doing so it was discovered the eldest was expecting pups," she continued.

"We believe the pups will be born sometime during the next week or so, which means she will have to stay with us until after they are born, before going to her new home.

"The eldest dog also appears to be a working Springer as she knows all the commands of a working dog.

"If someone has genuinely lost the dogs, then perhaps they will get in touch, although if this was the case, I cannot believe someone would not have seem them if they had been roaming around.

"I am appalled that in this day and age someone could dump these two lovely dogs. It really is extremely sad."

Anyone who would like to offer the two dogs a home is asked to contact Mrs. Ward on (01834) 843712.
