Sir, I am dumbfounded by the proposition to close the Tourist Information Centre in Tenby. A proposal supported, it seems, by Pembrokeshire County Council. It seems to be another example of ‘small-mindedness’ that so often holds Tenby back.
My wife and I drove last year through the Black Forest, into Switzerland and on to the Italian lakes. Every village, never mind major tourist town, had a tourist information centre and very friendly and useful they were.
Tenby quite rightly claims to be a major tourist destination. How on earth can anyone even think of not providing and Informaton Centre for visting tourists. It does not matter how it is funded. Just do it! It is essential.
David Maddox,
