Over the years Cresselly all-rounder Lyn Richards has provided plenty of heroics for his beloved club, yet it's doubtful any moments would have surpassed his six to beat Haverfordwest in the semi-final of the Duggie Morris Cup. With three needed off the last ball of the game, the home team skipper launched opposing number Nick Dyer over the boundary ropes to seal a memorable win, a victory that at one stage didn't look like occurring. The Town batted first on an excellent strip and posted a challenging total of 133, despite being all-out. Danny Potter and Mikey Jones were the mainstays of the effort with scores of 24 and 22, respectively, while there were double figure scores for Phil Kirkby and Huw Scrivens. Sam Harts was Cresselly's hero with the ball as he took his tally in the competition to seven wickets with a 4-21 haul. Richards added two wickets to his name, while Ryan Lewis, while being wicketless, bowled superbly in recording figures of 0-11. In reply, Cresselly found the going tough initially and only a second wicket partnership of 47 between Phil Williams and Simon Cole got the board ticking. Williams only scored four, yet he provided brilliant support for Cole, who slammed three 6s and a four in his 37. Ryan Lewis gave the innings some impetus with a brisk 33 (three 4s and two maximums), while the father and son duo of Richard and Andrew Harris scored 12 apiece. Wickets kept tumbling, however, and the pressure was mounting, although Richards was up to the task as he kept his nerve to seal the win in the most memorable fashion possible. Cresselly will play St. Ishmaels in the final after they completely outplayed Neyland. Batting first, 'Tish found it hard going early on as they had to wait until the sixth over before reaching double figures, but an excellent partnership of 73 between Andrew Williams and Jon Pawlett saw them post a respectable 122-3. Williams scored 33, while Pawlett smashed all before him in recording 64 not out. In reply, Neyland struggled against some accurate bowling as they lost wickets regularly. Only Greg Miller with 22 showed any resistance against all the bowlers, with Stewart Kimpton standing out as he took three wickets towards the end.
