Sir,
On Tuesday, I had to go to a job at a guest house in Warren Street, Tenby, to do an urgent repair to a heating system and, as advised in the past, I parked my van safely on double yellow lines, opposite the property, with a note on the dash with the address. I did not park in the residents parking bays, as in the past I was told I would get a ticket.
During the time there, a traffic warden knocked the door and told my customer that I would have to move the van or I would be fined, even though my customer said I was working there.
The majority of hotels/guest houses and residential properties have either double yellow lines or residential parking bays outside.
Most tradesmen's vans are mobile workshops/stores and need to be on-site, so how can we park without being fined. We keep Tenby working, safe and serviced.
If this attitude carries on, Tenby will not be able to get a tradesman to call and if they do call, who pays the fine - the tradesman or the customer?
I am not against traffic management in Tenby, it is very much needed, but for the sake of the Tenby tourist industry and the residents, common sense is needed too.
