Local police are appealing to motorists to park responsibly and not cause annoyance to others by parking across disabled access points. The appeal comes from Tenby's police inspector Les Clark, who has been contacted by members of the local access group who have urged him to enforce the dropped kerb regulations more strictly. In addition, Insp. Clark has visited a wheelchair bound resident who is regularly trapped in her home because of continual disregard for the dropped kerb outside her home. "For this lady it is a real life-affecting issue and one that we should all try and avoid," said Insp. Clark. "I would appeal to all motorists to park responsibly and certainly not to cause annoyance to others. "To block disabled access points is anti-social and should not be tolerated in what is meant to be a caring society. "The anti-social parking issues in Tenby are well-known and officers and traffic wardens have over a period of time issued many hundreds of parking tickets to those drivers who flout the regulations. "It is now very apparent that some drivers totally disregard the parking restrictions associated with dropped kerbs designed primarily to allow easier wheelchair access for the disabled. "These areas are well marked and are obvious." Local officers and traffic wardens have been asked to report drivers for this offence regardless of any excuses."
