Sir,
I have just very reluctantly paid my fine of £12 (reduced from £30 if paid promptly) for parking in the multi-storey car park.
When sending my cheque, I warned the authorities I would be writing to 'warn' the public of an over-zealous traffic warden checking the cars in the car park.
My sin was to be parked not quite squarely in an otherwise empty lane, i.e. the lane between the taxi rank and the pay machine. I was parked in the second bay back from the machine, having deliberately avoided the first as it was full of rubbish.
So, be warned, don't risk ever brushing the white lines with your wheels, even in an empty car lane in February!

Valley Farm,
