A Pembroke Dock man, who had been driving less than five months, was given a two-year driving ban this week after being found nearly three times over the legal drink-drive limit.
Twenty-five-year-old Adam Wheeldon, of Military Road, Pennar, pleaded guilty to charges at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday, when it was explained that the driver had been found with 103 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, after his car had collided with another vehicle on the evening of November 13.
Police had received a call from a witness to say that Mr. Wheeldon's red Seat Arosa car had hit the rear offside of her vehicle while she was waiting to pull out of a street.
She said that Mr. Wheeldon had mounted a kerb while travelling at speed and attempting to turn into Ferry Road and had narrowly missed a house before colliding with her vehicle.
Noticing that Mr. Wheeldon was visibly drunk, the female driver removed the keys from his car's ignition and called the police.
Mr. Wheeldon's defence denied that he had attempted to drive away from the scene following the collision.
They explained that he had recently moved down to the area from Manchester to find work and was currently employed at Pembroke Power Station. He had been in the pub that evening drinking and had left following an argument with his girlfriend to return home.
Magistrates disqualified Mr. Wheeldon from driving for two years and gave him a band D fine of £465. He was also ordered to retake his driving test and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £15.
