Saundersfoot's publicans are preparing for their biggest day of the year and will be dressing in style! They will be seen wearing the 2008 New Year's Day Swim (NYDS) polo shirt.
The polo shirt has become a trademark within the village on New Year's Day and this year the demand for the shirt has again exceeded expectation. Martyn Williams, chairman of swim organisers Saundersfoot Festivities, said: "We ordered 150 shirts, 120 of which are blue and the remaining 30 being pink. The reason for the pink shirts was to raise awareness for breast cancer. All of the £20 purchase price for the pink shirt will go directly to breast cancer. All profits from the blue shirts will be distributed amongst other worthy causes."
Saundersfoot Festivities are are grateful for the support received from local publicans and businesses for their support for the polo shirts. The polo shirts are made by the rugby firm Kukri and have all the logos of the swim's 2008 sponsors, namely Oakwood, Powell's Cottage Holidays, Pembrokeshire Financial Services, Neil Finlay Cars and Sands Nightclub.
The polo shirts can be ordered from the Old Chemist Inn, The Royal Oak, Captain's Table or by ringing 813039.
The 2008 swim will be celebrating its 24th year. During that time, the swim has raised over £200,000 for local and national charities. Last year, alone raised £25,000.
