TENBY adventurer, Rosie Swale Pope has reached the next destination on her round-the-world voyage on two-feet. The 58-year-old grandmother reached Chita in Siberia on Saturday. But her journey over the last couple of days has not been without incident. The right-hand shaft of her buggy, 'Hercules', broke and she had to struggle for a couple of days, pulling it along with a rope which hurt her back. Fortunately, though, a vehicle carrying seven young men, who Rosie described as characters from James Bond, stopped and helped her. The men were 'metalists' and had been collecting scrap metal from the wide plains of Siberia to sell on in China. They managed to weld the shaft back together, much to Rosie's delight. Currently resting in Chita, Rosie is staying with a member of the scientific institute. According to Rosie's website, there is a big local conservation issue regarding a giant oil pipe running through the area, and Rosie is going on a four-day scientific trek with the institution who are trying to raise awareness of the issue.
