Major work to improve the drainage system on Narberth's Town Moor playing fields and recreation area is to start within weeks. Said County Councillor Wynne Evans: "I'm pleased to confirm that works to relieve much of the surface water on the paths and footways on the Moor will be starting soon. "I will be personally circulating leaflets to notify people who use those paths to be aware of disruption and I have met with  residents of Garfield Gardens and other properties adjoining the Moor to advise them of pending works. "It had been hoped that construction of a skateboard park would have been completed by now, but these plans have suffered some setbacks and may not be completed for a while yet, therefore I feel it is totally unacceptable for school children and others to have to walk  on flooded paths. "I shall be circulating letters to local people in the course of next week, while more site meetings in that area are scheduled for today (Friday).

More lighting

Meanwhile, after an incident which occurred at the Town Moor area last week, new lighting will be installed on the pathway adjoining Garfield Gardens and the Town Moor. "I was contacted by local residents who sometimes find it a little intimidating walking on unlit pathways," said Clr. Evans. "This has caused me great concern, and a new light will be installed over the next few months, as well as new lights  in the Belmore Gardens area of the town."
