Mumbles 2nds 8 pts. Whitland 2nds 42

Whitland Seconds got back to playing rugby at the weekend when they travelled to play Mumbles in the Carmarthen Tyre Services Championship and came away with a bonus point win.

In the first half, Whitland edged in front from two penalties by fullback Ross Michael, before adding their first try by prop Lee Williams, which went unconverted, to leave the half-time score 11-nil to Whitland.

Mumbles got on the score sheet with a penalty after 10 minutes from winger Flavia Di Giorgio, with Michael replying with his third after 20 minutes, before Whitland broke free and ran in four tries in less than 10 mintues.

They came from scrum-half Dafydd Evans, winger Fraser Watson, outside-half Mike Giorgiou and centre Mathew Howells, with Michael adding two conversions and replacements Kristian Richards and Jack Mason kicking one each.

Right on the final whistle, veteran prop Peter Blyth scored an unconverted try for the home side to leave the final score 42 points to eight to Whitland.

Whitland 2nds 24

Whitland Seconds reached the semi-finals of the Pembrokeshire Junior Union Cup after beating Haverfordwest Seconds by 24 points to five on Monday evening.

Whitland turned up intent on playing good rugby, while Haverfordwest must be reflecting on their disappointing display which saw them being issued with three yellow cards and one red!

Whitland led 14 points to nil at half-time after flanker Rhydian Davies and centre Mathew Howells scored the tries and outside-half Rhys Jones added the two conversions.

In the second half, Haverfordwest scored an unconverted try through winger Daniel Birch, but Whitland's Rhys Jones kicked a penalty and fullback Will Davies scored a third try, which again Rhys Jones converted, to gain a well deserved victory.
