A lady who has seen many changes in the world over the course of a century, celebrated her 105th birthday last Friday.

Dorothy Dalton, a resident of Ridgeway Care Home in Llawhaden, was born in Pembrokeshire in 1909 - three years before the Titanic sunk and five years before the on-set of World War I.

Dorothy, who used to help her father Edward John Ladd-Thomas, at his chemist shop in Laugharne, even remembers meeting poet Dylan Thomas at a young age.

Her Spanish mother, Gertrude Elizabeth, who passed away when Dorothy was 14, was also a chemist.

Dorothy moved to London where she married her husband George, before returning to Pembrokeshire to work in the antiques and furniture restoration trade.

A glass or two of sherry was served at the home to toast Dorothy's celebrations, with the Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Mrs. Ruth Platt, also dropping by to wish the birthday girl well.
