Voter registration forms will soon be dropping through letterboxes across Pembrokeshire and you are being urged to return yours as soon as possible to make your voice heard in the local government elections and possibly the Police and Crime Commissioner's elections in 2012.

Your local electoral registration officer, Mr. Bryn Parry-Jones, and his staff will be sending forms to households in Pembrokeshire over the coming months to compile the electoral register.

If you haven't received your form, by the end of August, you can contact your electoral registration officer on 01437 775844 or print one off at http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk">www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.

Mr. Parry-Jones said: "Registering to vote is very simple. All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with the details of everyone in your household, who is eligible to vote, and return it to us as soon as possible using the prepaid envelope. Alternatively, if your details have not changed you can reply by text, phone or e-mail.

"There was a lot of interest in this year's National Assembly election and on the referendums held in Wales in March on the Assembly's further law-making powers and in May on the Parliamentary voting system. We were pleased with the increase in registration shortly before polling day. However, some people may not realise that they have to register every year.

"It is important that you complete and return the registration form so you're able to take part in any forthcoming elections."

On your electoral registration form, you can opt to have your details excluded from the edited register. This will mean your details cannot be bought by individuals and commercial organisations.
