Sir,

Further to Mr. Jenkins's letter in last week's Observer, 'We are being conned'.

If the people of Tenby and south-east Pembrokeshire really think they are being conned, then there is no better opportunity than now to let our elected members know how important it is to see a new hospital built with full in-patient facilities.

With less than 12 weeks before the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) elections, the people will have the opportunity to demonstrate and vote with their feet.

May I also take this opportunity to remind the people that it's not only the people of Tenby who will benefit from the new hospital, it's all the other communities of south-east Pembrokeshire that need these vital facilities. Therefore, they'd better get out and start fighting their cause if they want to retain their hospital. Therefore, we must not let our elected WAG members off the hook with vague promises.

Make no mistake about it, if we see the closure of Tenby Cottage Hospital and no new hospital to replace it, we will never get this very valuable asset back; it will be gone for ever.

Mr. A. L. Wales,

North Norton,

Manorbier.
