Pembrokeshire police are reminding people about the laws regarding fireworks. In the run up to Bonfire Night, fireworks can be a big contributing factor to anti-social behaviour. Police have the power to arrest people and issue an £80 fixed penalty notice or take them to court for a variety of firework related offences. These include throwing fireworks or setting them off in a public place and possession of adult fireworks by anyone under the age of 18 in a public place. If the fireworks are being used to cause anti-social behaviour, the person responsible could also find themselves referred to the anti-social behaviour co-ordinator. Neighbourhood Policing Teams throughout the division will be increasing patrols during the evenings to deter anyone from using fireworks to create anti-social behaviour. They are also visiting shops to remind them it is against the law to sell fireworks to young people. People are being asked to only use fireworks responsibly and to prevent getting themselves in trouble by attending organised events.
