Mary Uzzell Edwards recently donated four original drawings by John Uzzell Edwards to Tenby Museum and Art Gallery. The four pencil sketches date from around 1959. Two have been identified as Brother Thomas, but there is a degree of mystery surrounding the identity of the other two subjects. One is possibly a Tenby boatman called Tom. Collections manager Mark Lewis said; "These four portraits are absolutely wonderful and they are a superb addition to the museum's art collection. Our thanks go to Mary for her exceptional generosity in donating these works to us. The museum had a very close relationship with John and we are aiming to conserve and frame these works for public display. If anyone has any idea who these two portraits depict, please feel free to contact the museum, as we would love to know." The exhibition of John's work with his son, Charley aka Pure Evil, is currently on show at Tenby Museum. John sadly died in March 2014 before the exhibition opened. The exhibition, entitled Face to Face, shows many early portrait works by John along with a handful of Charley's modern works. "It is a superb show," Mark continued, "and I urge everyone to come and see it." The exhibition runs until Sunday, May 18.
