Does Tenby really need a skateboard park? That was the question posed by a local councillor at a meeting of the town council this week.

Clr. Mike Evans recently reaffirmed his commitment to seeing a skateboard park situated in the town, suggesting that a portable semi-permanent set of mini-ramps and obstacles could be looked into, with the Salterns as a possible safe suitable site.

However, speaking at Tuesday night's meeting, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that she would be against the idea.

"I think the time has gone for a skateboard park in the town and just think there's no demand for it; if I'm wrong, then let's hear it," she stated.

"I think there are plenty of other more worthwhile things in the town that we could be putting our money into," added Clr. Mrs. Brown.

At a recent meeting of the Tenby Connect group, a few seemed to favour the old quarry site as a location if such a park was to be created, but Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter felt that would be a bad move.

"I think that site is too far away and wouldn't be safe for children. Maybe the land up by Greenhill School could be looked into, which is in full view, with no danger," said the Deputy Mayor.
