Doors open again next month onto Pembroke Dock's iconic Dockyard Chapel and the town's exciting heritage projects.

As part of the Civic Trust of Wales' 'Open Doors' programme, the beautifully restored chapel will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday, September 13 and 14, from 10 am to 4 pm. Organised by the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust heritage group, the two days will spotlight the work of the Trust and its volunteer teams as well as showing off the wonderful Georgian building.

Volunteers run the very popular Flying Boat Centre Workshop and the newly set up Fleets to Flying Boats Centre - both in the historic dockyard. Both centres, and the Trust's Glass House Coffee Shop, will be open along with the chapel.

Ongoing plans to recover more of Sunderland flying boatT9044 from the bottom of the Haven and the work of the Sunderland Trust Dive Group will feature prominently, along with the Trust's vision for a major military heritage centre at the Chapel.

Other areas of the Trust's work - including education visits, involvement with community groups and recording interviews for the oral history project - will be featured.

The Trust's rapidly growing archive includes the 'Mansell Collection' - several hundred photographs taken by a former RAF photographer. Many from this remarkable collection will be on view, and the Penfro Model Group will be displaying a wide range of military and aviation model subjects.

Two guided walks take place on Friday 13th - 'The Navy Trail' led by historian Ted Goddard and 'The RAF Trail' headed by the Sunderland Trust's own John Evans.

And Pembroke Dock WI will be providing refreshments throughout the two days.

Entry to the Dockyard Chapel, also known locally as the Garrison Chapel, is free as is entry to the Trust's two visitor centres.

The Open Doors event has been generously sponsored by Valero Pembroke Refinery and the Sunderland Trust's initiatives also continue to receive excellent support from PLANED, Milford Haven Port Authority, Pembrokeshire County Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Further information is available from the Sunderland Trust's website http://www.sunderlandtrust.org.uk">www.sunderlandtrust.org.uk and from leaflets and posters.
