Do you have a great idea that needs help or support? Arwain Sir Benfro, the LEADER group for Pembrokeshire, is arranging a set of drop-in funding events starting on Tuesday, April 19, at The Pavilion, Withybush Showground, Haverfordwest.

The events will run from 2 pm until 8 pm with refreshments and a chance to find out all about the latest round of LEADER funding and a host of other current Rural Development Programme (RDP) funds.

The other dates and locations are Monday, April 25, at Canolfan Hermon Hal; Wednesday, May 4, at Llawhaden Hall; Thursday May 12 at Regency Hall, Saundersfoot; Monday, May 16, at Pembroke Town Hall; and Tuesday, May 24, at Letterston Hall.

The drop-in events are open to everyone and have information about funding opportunities for rural community groups, rural businesses and individuals interested in developing innovative ideas and initiatives.

There will be information and display stands representing the various RDP funding schemes, as well other national and regional funding representatives and support organisations.

The Arwain Sir Benfro LEADER scheme aims to support new activity that tests ideas which benefit communities. LEADER - funded projects should aim to nurture local development. This could include the improvement of local skills, the better use of a local resource or realising the economic potential of the local culture leading to a ‘new’ outcome or product.

With ever-tightening budgets, it is becoming challenging to deliver services at a local level in rural communities; users are increasingly having to travel further for services such as further education, healthcare, childcare and leisure.
