OUTSTANDING dancers, razor sharp choreography, captivating music and dramatic design all feature in an exciting international triple bill of dance, performed by Diversions, the Dance Company of Wales, at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, next Tuesday and Wednesday, March 22 and 23, at 7.30 pm. The performance kicks off with a bold new work choreographed by Stijn Celis, artistic director of Bern Ballet, Switzerland. 'Practice Paradise' is a wild and imaginative production which is an extravagantly humorous creation to the famous Chopin score to 'Les Syphides'. 'Between' is a beautiful and sophisticated production, which displays the dancers' remarkable technique to the full, choreographed by director Roy Campbell-Moore. Played out against the quirky, folk music of Welsh borders trio 'Hoover the Dog', 'Between' dives headlong into the emotional turmoil experienced between birth and death. Inspired by Paul Searight's award winning series of night-time photographs of the Welsh Valleys, and with sexy and sophisticated movement, this is truly unmissable work. Campbell-Moore's recent hit productions for the Company include 'Tough Love' (2003) and 'Etch' (2001). To celebrate Diversions' 21st birthday, the company pays tribute to its early roots by reviving the hit 'love' duet of 1989, 'Oakfield Ridge', choreographed by the American dance artist, David Dorfman. Performed to quirky electronic beats, this duet charts the emotional lifecycle of a relationship. Formed in 1983 by directors Roy Campbell-Moore and Ann Sholem, Diversions has achieved national and international recognition through its extensive touring both in Britain and overseas. Diversions has remained true to its founding philosophy that a trip to a dance show should be a magical, inspiring and life-enhancing occasion and is now widely acknowledged as one of the most entertaining and theatrical dance companies around. Tickets, priced at £10 and £8 concessions, are available from the Torch Theatre box office on 01646 695267.
