Sir,
Having been a visitor to Tenby since my childhood, I was very dismayed and disgusted at the erection of money-grabbing turnstiles at the local toilets.
This I think leaves a poor impression of Tenby, to old and new visitors alike. I would understand if the moneies from this scheme went into the coffers of the local authority, as they are probably struggling with cuts to their budget.
But no, I believe the money from these charges goes to a private company. I think the powers that be should try to insist the money made by these machines should go to local charities or to the RNLI which depend on the generosity of the public. I am sure then, we would all be happy to ‘pay for a pee’.
Of course this sorry event will not put me off visiting Tenby, one of the loveliest parts of South Wales.
Tom Rowlands,
Mid Glamorgan.
