Sir,

Further to your report in last week's Observer 'A vital vote for south-east Pembs,' I too am dismayed by the Pembrokeshire Health Board's letter to Tenby Town Council about the reprovision of services to Tenby Cottage Hospital.

Christine Gwyther is quoted as saying she is dismayed by the NHS Trust's half-hearted approach to this matter. Well, Christine, the ball is firmly in your court. Just remember that the members of the Health Board are not elected, and would appear to be unaccountable to anyone other than themselves.

It also would appear to me that the Health Board will do just as they please if you allow them to do so.

Therefore, could our Welsh Assembly member, and health minister, Jane Hutt, please prove to me and the people of south-east Pembrokeshire that there is a sincere and honest commitment to the people of Tenby and south-east Pembrokeshire, by demonstrating that it is the Welsh Assembly who have the powers to govern and not the Pembrokeshire Health Board.

A. L. Wales,

North Norton,

Manorbier.
