The leader of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Maurice Hughes, has expressed disappointment at some of the comments of a Best Value press statement about a report into the authority's Sheltered Housing and Lifeline Service.

The service is described as 'fair with uncertain prospects for improvement' in an independent report published by the Audit Commission.

The inspection team awarded the service one star. Best Value ratings range from no stars (poor) to three stars (excellent).

Clr. Hughes said he was disappointed that while the Commission's press statement pointed out aspects of the service that need attention, it did not acknowledge the actions already planned following the county council's own review.

He said: "Many of these actions have been implemented and others are long-term programmes that are already in progress."
