Ever wondered what a wildlife hotel was, want to name more butterflies and wild flowers or just spend time with family learning more about nature? If so, head up to Cilgerran to the Welsh Wildlife Centre on August 20 for a Wild Discovery Day.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales are joining forces to run a day event for people to discover more about the wildlife living in and around the Teifi Marshes National Nature Reserve.

The bilingual, family friendly sessions will include guided walks, minibeast hunting, pond dipping and learning how to create a wildlife hotel for your own garden.

National Park ranger Kiri Howell enthused: The Wild Discovery Day is a really special event held in a unique reserve which encompasses reed beds, meadows, marshes, woods. With the enthusiasm and expertise of leaders from both the Wildlife Trust and the National Park, theres so much to learn about these habitats and what grows and lives there.

Llinos Richards, the Welsh Wildlife Centre manager, added: We welcome the opportunity to run partnership events like this and are really looking forward to welcoming local and visiting families to experience the centre.

Two sessions will be held: the first from 11 am to 1 pm and the second from 2 to 4 pm. Adults and children under fives free, children £2. All children must be accompanied. Booking is essential on 01834 845040.
