Following a call by a member of the public to the coastguard operations room shortly after 8 pm on Friday, Tenby's inshore lifeboat was launched and the resort's coastguard team called to a mirror dinghy with three adults and two young children aboard seen drifting off Monkstone Point. Fortunately, a passing fishing vessel, the Janet D, managed to untangle the fishing lines that were wrapped around the small outboard engine's propellor and took the persons from the dinghy onto their own vessel. They then put a line on the dinghy and towed it back to Saundersfoot. The inshore lifeboat stood by while the tow was undertaken and the coastguard team attended Saundersfoot Harbour where they spoke to the people on the dinghy, from Hampton Wick, West London, and gave them safety advice regarding going to sea without safety equipment.
