Last week, the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland appealed through the press for sponsors to assist the club in raising funds to stage the fourth annual Welsh Dragon Boat Championship.

Hywel Griffiths and Sons, the plant and excavating machinery company from Clunderwen, read the appeal and have stepped in as main sponsors.

The WDBC co-ordinator, Ken Morgan, said: “This is a marvellous opportunity for a local firm to display their logo on our championship sportswear t-shirts which will be worn by all the Dragon Boat teams members.”

This year, the t-shirts will be in a bright green colour.

The Rotary committee are also pleased to announce that this year it has had a number of late enquiries, so the decision has been made to extend the deadline for applications to join in the event. Completed application forms and entrance fees can now be submitted at the end of March.

President of the Rotary Club, Mary Adams, is delighted with the generosity of Hywel Griffiths to act as main sponsor and she added that “without such financial assistance from local businesses we would never be able to afford to put on the event which is designed to raise much-needed funds to aid mental health charities.”

There are still opportunities for other sponsors to join in. To book sponsorship, contact Rotarian John Hughes (01834) 842552 or email [email protected]
