This year's Prize Day at Monkton Priory Community School saw mums, dads, grans and granddads join the pupils in celebrating their achievements through the year. Not unusual you may think... however, these local adults attended the presentation to receive Certificates of Achievement for their own learning. Since April over 50 adults have taken part in Springboard -- a two-year project funded by the European Objective One Programme, the Welsh Assembly Government Communities First scheme and Pembrokeshire County Council. Aimed at providing a range of learning opportunities for adults, this year's activities have included - A Taste of Computing, Surviving Kids, Brush up your Maths and Healthy Cooking on a Budget. The project operates in the Monkton ward in Pembroke and in the Llanion and Central wards of Pembroke Dock. Classes have been held at Monkton Priory Community School, Pembroke Dock Community School and the Yo Yo Family Centre, Activities planned for September include - First Steps to Computing, Healthy Cooking, Employment Skills, Brush up your Maths, Help Your Child Succeed and Grow your own Veg with more in the pipeline. All courses are free for those living in the wards above and over 16, but under retirement age.
