Pictured are Stan and Betty Caswell, of 1 Hydref, High Grove, New Hedges, who celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Januray 13.

The couple are seen at their home holding a congratulatory card which they received from HM The Queen.

A good friend of Stan and Betty, Robert Parsons has also written a tribute in their honour:

On the 13th day of January

In the year of 49,

Our Stan and Betty tied the knot

And each one said 'you're mine.'

The early years were difficult

But there wasn't any fuss.

They didn't have a car you see

So had to use the bus.

As time went by their lives improved,

They bought an Austin 7.

No more blessed buses

They thought they were in Heaven.

Throughout the years they flourished

And the family increased.

But then they said that four's enough

And so production ceased.

Next they bought a caravan

And to Swallow Tree they went.

There are many happy memories

Of friends and years they spent.

By now they'd moved from Ebbw Vale

To Gilwern with the posh

Because the boys had flown the nest

They had some surplus dosh.

Their nearest pub, the Corn Exchange

Was where all the locals met.

So Stanley did a painting

Unless they should forget.

In '88 they moved again

New Hedges was the spot.

With such good times at Saundersfoot

They loved the place a lot.

And this is where they settled

To spend their latter years.

With many friends and interests

They are never short of cheers.

They're often very busy

With jobs for other folk,

And there have been times in days gone by

When it's gone beyond a joke!

They run a little clinic

For alkies or that ilk.

With Stan and Janet present

They don't need any milk!

So that concludes our story

Of Betty and our Stan.

She's a very clever lady

And he's a superman.

So we say congratulations

From family and friends,

For 60 years of happiness

We hope it never ends.
