LOCAL couple Dorothy and Harold James, of Bevelin Lane, Rushy Lake, Saundersfoot, celebrated 60 years of marriage on Saturday. A party was held with family, staff and friends at Hollyland Lodge, Pembroke, where Dorothy is currently resident. Highlight of the afternoon was the arrival of a special personal message of congratulation from Her Majesty the Queen. The couple, both talented musicians, met and married in Manchester in 1946, but within a few days of the ceremony Harold was posted by the RAF to Greece and could not see his bride again for more than a year. Afterwards, they made their home in the Midlands, and then retired to Saundersfoot in 1988. A devoted couple, with a lifetime of happy memories, Dorothy and Harold have three children and four grandchildren.
