CELEBRATING 60 years of marriage yesterday (Thursday) were Bert and Peggy Page, formerly of Tenby, but now living in Bournemouth.

Bert was born and brought up in the Norton with his sister Molly, who still lives in Tenby, and his brother Charlie, who died in the war.

A keen sportsman, Bert played rugby for Tenby first team, and, later, the Navy, and was well-known around Tenby harbour for his diving and swimming skills. He was also a member of St. Mary's Church Choir.

Bert and Peggy, a nurse, were married at Richmond Hill Church, Bournemouth, in 1942, when the best man was Eddie Thomas, of Serpentine Road.

They returned to Tenby when Bert joined the Post Office, but later moved to Bournemouth, where they still live.

Bert and Peggy have two children, Beth and David, and a grandson, Edward.
